Interview with Daniel Ryf, CEO and Dr. Heiko Bailer, Portfolio Manager at GL Asset Management

Daniel Ryf is the CEO of GL Asset Management AG, headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland. He joined GL AM in November 2015. His career spans over 25 years and he has held senior management roles within the Financial Services industry such as in International Wealth & Asset Management for (U)HNWIs, Life and Non-Life Insurance, Business Development, Distribution and Operational Excellence Six Sigma for financial institutions such as Credit Suisse Group, Julius Baer & Co., and Axa-Winterthur amongst others. Daniel has acquired an extensive experience and deep know-how in the investment side across asset classes, wealth & asset management, wealth planning and structuring as well as on operational excellence. Daniel holds an Executive MBA in Finance from the University of Rochester, USA and University of Berne as well as a Bachelor in Business Administration, Economics and Finance from University of Applied Sciences in Zurich, Switzerland. In addition, he is also a Certified Six Sigma expert and holds a CAS as insurance expert.

Heiko Bailer joined GL Asset Management in November 2016. Prior to that, he worked for various investment companies including Credit Suisse, Bank Vontobel (Harcourt), ABN AMRO, Deutsche Bank in Zurich, London, Tokyo, and New York. Heiko Bailer's approach is quantitative, systematic, and based on his Ph.D. research in robust statistics - parts of his Ph.D. were recently published in The Oxford Handbook of Quantitative Asset Management (2012). He has a Ph.D. in Statistics (applied Finance) as well as a degree in Computational Finance from the University of Washington, USA and a Master of Science in Mathematics and Physics from the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich, Germany. Isaac Lieberman founded Aston Capital Management as a quantitative hedge fund in November 2013. As a veteran trader of proprietary quantitative strategies, Isaac has more than 20 years of experience trading in global FX and fixed income markets. Prior to founding ACM, Isaac was Managing Director at J.P. Morgan where he was the Head of Algorithmic Trading and the Head of Electronic FX Options Trading. Kevin Ellis brings more than 30 years of financial, administrative and operations experience to the Firm. Previously, Mr. Ellis was the COO and principal of FISCO Appreciation Management LLC. Interview with Maciej Wisniewski, Founder and Portfolio Manager at Macromoney

Maciej Wisniewski is the Founder and Fund Manager of Macromoney and has full oversight of all company operations. Maciej has 20 years of experience in investments management and in successfully setting up investment funds.

He is the Founder of Investors Investment Fund Company (IIFC), one of Poland's first privately owned investment fund management companies, which was established in 2005. Prior to founding IIFC, he was the Director of Trading at BZ WBK AIB Asset Management in Poznan, Poland, and was a highly successful Proprietary Trader for LG Bank in Warsaw, Poland. He began his career as a stock broker at Raiffeisen Capital, then later moved to Bank Millenium Securities, both in Warsaw. Interview with Mitchell Presnick, Director and Partner at Marco Polo Pure Asset Management Ltd

Mitchell Presnick is Director and Partner with Marco Polo Pure China Fund. Mr. Presnick holds an MBA (1999) from the Rutgers Graduate School of Business in Newark, New Jersey, a graduate diploma in Chinese language (1990) from Peking University in Beijing, and a BBA (1988) from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He is fluent and literate in Mandarin Chinese. Mitch is a prominent American business commentator in Asia and a permanent resident of Hong Kong. He brings over 28 continuous years on-site China business experience.

Mitch is also Founder, former Chairman and CEO of Super 8 Hotels (China) Co., Ltd, a brand operated in Greater China under master license granted by Wyndham Hotel Group (NYSE: WYN). Mitch brought Super 8 to China in 2004 along with the concept of branded franchised economy hotels. Prior to Super 8, Mitch served as China country manager for Edelman, a ‘Top 5’ PR agency headquartered in Chicago, as well as founder and former China MD of APCO Associates, a D.C. based public affairs firm. Interview with David Liebowitz, Managing Partner at Aroya Capital LP

David Liebowitz has been an investment professional for over 33 years.Prior to founding Aroya Capital LP, David served Bear Stearns in a number of capacities from 1983 to 2005. The common thread of his experience was his involvement in proprietary trading during his entire 22 years career at Bear – initially Risk Arbitrage and then Convertible Arbitrage for many years. Over the course of his career at Bear he managed as much as $4 billion of proprietary capital as well as $1.4 billion of client assets. In 1993 David was elected to the Board of Directors of The Bear Stearns Companies, Inc., serving as a director until 2001.

David left Bear Stearns in October of 2005. From 2006 to 2010 he exclusively managed family assets. From 2010 to 2012, he co-managed a $200+ million asset proprietary portfolio for Mariner Investment Group. It was in 2013 that David established Aroya Capital LP. David earned a BS degree (1980) and an MBA with a concentration in finance (1983) from New York University’s Stern School of Business. Interview with Charles Mautz, Managing Member & Chief Investment Officer at Chinus Asset Management

As founder and Managing Member, Charles leads CHAM’s strategy and activities. He also oversees all investment activities including research, allocation and manager selection. Charles developed the firm’s focus on investing with locally-based managers throughout Asia and travels there frequently to identify the next rising stars.

From 2005 to 2008, Charles was a Managing Partner at an emerging growth company accelerator and a Managing Director at Aequitas Capital Management, where he led the firm’s efforts to form new fund products and oversaw its fund management activities. Prior to 2004, he held various strategic, financial and M&A roles in Los Angeles and New York. From 1999 to 2004 he was in charge of strategy and M&A at CMS, a leader in financial research distribution. While at CMS, he played an integral role in their expansion into Europe (via acquisition) and Asia. Ivan Popovic is a founding partner of Tolomeo Capital and serves as the company’s Managing Partner. In 2006, he co-founded aeris CAPITAL, a large family office where he was responsible for several investment funds and served as a member of the Executive Management and the Board. Ivan headed the Quant and Risk Management Group of aeris CAPITAL, which was spun off in 2011 to form Tolomeo Capital. At Tolomeo Capital, Ivan oversees the day-to-day running of the business.

Nicolas Mirjolet is a founding partner and the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Tolomeo Capital.
