Press Release: Global Hedge Fund Awards to Recognise Top Performing Hedge Fund Managers of 2018

Eurekahedge, a market leading alternative fund data provider and research house is pleased to announce the launch of the Global Hedge Fund Awards - the first of its kind industry wide initiative to recognise and award hedge fund managers across the globe. Our elite panel of judges hailing from a mix of public and private pension funds as well as premier funds of hedge funds will pick winners across Americas, Europe & Middle East Africa and Asia Pacific.

Over 13,000 hedge funds reporting to the Eurekahedge Global Hedge Funds Database will be up for nomination across multiple award categories based on fund strategy, geographic mandate, fund size and overall consistency in delivering return for their investors.

Takashi Minagawa, Chairman & CEO at Eurekahedge said, “We have been hosting the Asian Hedge Fund Awards in Singapore for the last 15 years. This illustrious event continues to play a significant role for many within the Asian hedge fund community and we would like to bring the same spirit into producing our first ever Global Hedge Fund Awards.”

Mohammad Hassan, Head Analyst at Eurekahedge said, “We are implementing the gold standard for hedge fund awards by applying our rigorous methodology globally in a consistent manner to recognise and celebrate the very best of hedge fund managers whose success in delivering returns for their investors is often eclipsed by headline news surrounding the industry.”

What is the methodology?

Nominees for the Eurekahedge Global Hedge Fund Awards are selected through voting by an independent panel of judges, from a working list of funds reporting to the Eurekahedge databases. All hedge funds listed with Eurekahedge, operating as at end-March 2019, and having reported their latest performance and AUM numbers are eligible for nomination. All eligible funds for each of the award categories will be compiled and circulated among the judges to facilitate nomination for the awards. Consequently, it is not unlikely that the same fund would be nominated for multiple awards.

Once the votes are collated and the list of nominees finalised, the winners are selected by the panel of judges, weighing in on both quantitative and qualitative aspects of the funds in question. The quantitative discussion, while mainly based on recent performance, also evaluates multi-year risk/return metrics, on grounds of consistency in fund performance. The selection of nominees and winners is under the remit of the panel of judges, and the role of Eurekahedge in this endeavour is limited to pre-screening and computing the necessary quantitative metrics and moderating the discussion.
