Here’s a brief update on the charity movements undertaken during the Eurekahedge Asian Hedge Fund Awards 2009, held in support of the World Food Programme (WFP).
The amount raised through both the open and silent auctions, as well as 100% of the event’s net profits donated by Eurekahedge have now been handed over to the WFP, participating in the School Feeding Project in Cambodia.
Malnutrition, especially in rural Cambodia, is widespread; particularly among children under five years and among expectant and nursing women. 36% of the children under 5 years old are underweight, 37% are showing signs of stunting and 7% are wasted. Resources are required to ensure that all children under the project receive their school meals as planned and projected. With the resources received from Eurekahedge Asian Hedge Fund Awards 2009, food will be procured and transported to the project areas; which will then be handed over to the school committees for daily meal preparation.
Report on actual distribution will be released when we get an update from the WFP. Below are some pictures from the WFP School Feeding Programme in Cambodia.
